Billing Specialist

The Billing Specialist will be responsible for end-to-end billing and reimbursement for personal exoskeletons and physical therapy practices. This includes benefits verification, collecting clinical documentation from physicians, claims submission, denial management, appeals, payer enrollment, provider credentialing, and follow-up. The role also involves helping maintain consistent, well-documented billing processes as new products and care models launch.

This role reports to the Reimbursement, Access, and Policy Manager and works closely with clinical operations, revenue cycle partners, and external stakeholders. It is well-suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven healthcare environment and is passionate about improving access to innovative care.

Key Responsibilities:

Personal Exoskeleton Reimbursement

• Conduct discovery calls during patient intake to determine whether candidates qualify for Eve

• Support benefits verification and prior authorization processes for personal exoskeleton candidates

• Collect and organize required clinical documentation from referring physicians — prescriptions, letters of medical necessity, and supporting chart notes — to substantiate prior authorization and claims

• Prepare, submit, and track claims related to personal exoskeleton devices

• Manage payer correspondence, denials, and appeals, including documentation assembly and follow-up

• Interpret payer policies and coverage criteria to support reimbursement strategy

• Maintain accurate records of claims status, outcomes, and payer feedback to inform future reimbursement pathways

• Maintain and promote strict adherence to HIPAA requirements and applicable privacy laws across all billing and reimbursement activities.

Physical Therapy Billing Support

• Support billing operations for affiliated physical therapy practices, including charge capture, claims submission, and payment posting

• Manage communication with EMR Billing Service and audit outsourced billing operations

• Manage payer enrollment and provider credentialing for existing and future hubs, including application submission, revalidation, and maintaining active provider status

• Assist with denial resolution and appeal preparation related to therapy services

• Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to ensure accurate documentation and coding

• Help identify billing trends, issues, and opportunities for process improvement

• Collaborate with Market Access Analyst and finance on revenue reporting

Operational & Strategic Support

• Track accounts receivable, help interpret claims data, and prepare summaries for relevant stakeholders.

• Contribute to standardized billing workflows that support future personal exoskeleton market expansion

• Contribute to internal reporting on reimbursement performance and payer behavior

• Work cross-functionally with clinical, operations, and reimbursement teams to support scalable growth
